The Hollow Crown

13th & 14th March 2020

Heritage Theatre presents The Hollow Crown, devised by and for the Royal Shakespeare Company in the drawing room at Pencarrow. This is an entertainment by and about the Kings and Queens of England (but not all of them!), ranging from William 1 to Queen Victoria and includes music, poetry, letters and dramatised scenes.

Box office will open early in the new year – details to follow – and net proceeds will go to the Fountain Restoration Fund set up by the Friends of Pencarrow to restore our beautiful Victorian fountain.

Heritage Theatre’s performances include “Lettice & Lovage”, “Bennett 2 Beethoven” (both performed at Pencarrow), “84 Charing Cross Road”, “Ladies in Lavender” and have assembled a suitably regal cast of Sue Flitter, Tracey Renwick, John Harbinson and Graham Renwick with a stately backstage team.

An evening with Annie Vernon

16th April 2020

Lose, lose & lose again; The inside success in elite sport

Come and join us for an evening with Olympian Annie Vernon who will be here at Pencarrow sharing with you some of the highs and lows of her career. With nearly a decade at the top of Britain’s most successful Olympic sport, Annie has a proven track record in the cauldron of seven World Championships and two Olympic Games. She became a World Champion for the first time in 2007 and this set the scene for an assault on the Beijing Olympics in 2008, where their crew of four attempted to be the first British women’s rowing team to become Olympic Champions. Leading until the final hundred metres of their final, they were overhauled by the Chinese crew to finish second. Their tears and grief on the podium were beamed by television cameras back to the UK and led to some tough questions when they returned – how can you be so dissatisfied and ungrateful with an Olympic silver medal? Annie will be also signing copies of her latest book and answering any questions you have. The evening starts at 7.15pm in our beautiful drawing room. Tickets are £10 and includes refreshments. The proceeds from this evening will be towards our Fountain Appeal, which has been set up by the Friends of Pencarrow to get our beautiful Victorian fountain flowing again!
