Pencarrow House and gardens

The Friends of Pencarrow was formed by a dedicated group of people who care about this historic estate’s future and connection to its community past and present. It is a charity that raises money to enhance the house and grounds. Recent donations include an extensive repair programme to the dam at the lake; benches, replica urns to replace broken ones; and a re-setting of the steps in the Italian Garden. It also runs social events and special interest days connected to Pencarrow: examples include specialist walks such as a fungi foray, poetry workshops, and garden walks with the Head Gardener.

Individual Friends also enhance the estate with their areas of expertise, whether in gardening, archive experience, repair and maintenance, or related fields.

The Friends’ main fundraisers are Snowdrop Sundays in February and Wild Garlic / Bluebell Sunday in May, and they also make jam and marmalade to sell in the shop and have a presence at other events such as Crafts for Christmas.

A Friends membership, particularly popular with families, local businesses, and dog walkers, includes unlimited access to the house and gardens during the season, and an annual newsletter.

If you would like to become a Friend of Pencarrow, or otherwise get involved with the group, please download the Membership Form or contact the membership secretary on 01637 889736.
